Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome Team Introduction

Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a rare, life-threatening disorder caused by dysregulation of the complement system. Due to systemic thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA), patients are at high risk of developing acute kidney failure within a short period of time, and may even suffer fatal complications such as stroke or myocardial infarction.

Because the early manifestations of aHUS are similar with those of other thrombotic conditions, clinical diagnosis is highly challenging. Our multidisciplinary team aim to create a “rapid response, precise differentiation, and timely treatment” fast-track pathway, bringing together specialists in nephrology, hematology, critical care, and pediatrics. We are committed to halting complement-mediated injury during the critical window to preserve organ function and save lives.
